Carlos Varella is the chef and mastermind of Beach Bistro 96. Established in Rockaway Beach, in May 2016, Beach Bistro 96 brings pure and delicious Brazil food culture to New York City. Chef Varella's love of surf culture creates a casual and culinary take on Brazilian classics. Offering up more than breakfast and lunch, Beach Bistro 96 tackles tradition Brazilian food like picanha (sirloin), pasteis (stuffed pastry), and feijoada completa - Brazil's national dish of black beans with pork and collard greens.
Upon the success of their first restaurant, husband and wife duo, Carlos Varella and wife Andressa Junqueira, are venturing to bring Brazilian food and culture to the newly constructed The Deco, located in the historic garment district.
